Coral Sea Sportfishing Safaris operates from CAIRNS, QLD, 4870

We are the sportfishing specialists. We offer a range of bespoke guided sportfishing charters, both full day trips and extended charters for either 3, 4 or 5 days. Our full day charters depart daily from Cairns, Port Douglas or Innisfail; depending on weather and sea conditions as well as recent fishing performance.

Our custom built 8 metre sportfishing boat is manufactured here in cairns by hooker boats, she is powered by twin Yamaha 175's; All this makes her smooth, stable and fast. Which minimises travel time and maximises fishing time. Our Livefibre Venom rods are supplied by Wilson Fishing. We use Diawa dogfights and Saltigas for our casting and Shimano Tiagras and TLD's for trolling.

Our range of full day charters allow you to choose different sportfishing techniques and focus solely on those specified methods or you can chose to do a mixed day and participate in a couple of disciplines. We are generally on the water by 7am and get off around 4 pm. Our possible target species for your day will be GT's, Spanish Mackerel, Black Marlin, Dogtooth Tuna, Coral Trout, Red bass and whole lot more.

All our charters are booked on a private whole boat basis, catering for a maximum of 3 anglers. Transfers to and from your accommodation are included in your charter, as is morning tea, lunch and afternoon snacks. There will be soft drinks and fresh water on ice for your refreshment. Should you wish to bring alcohol onboard you are welcome, keep it to tins please. Full Day Mixed Sportfishing - $1200.00 whole boat booking. Our mixed sportfishing trips are an ideal introduction to sportfishing where you can target a broad spectrum of species and participate in a variety of techniques. We recomend choosing any two techniques on the booking form to custom build your sportfishing adventure.

Full Day GT Popping Charter - $1200.00 whole boat booking. If popping and stickbaiting is your thing, this is the trip for you. It’s not uncommon to encounter GT’s over 30kg and Spanish Mackerel over 20kg. We spend the day working the structure, casting the pressure points and hunting for schools of bait where we know these large predators will be lurking.

Full Day Flats Fishing - $1200.00 whole boat booking. Up on the reef flats there is action a plenty with a plethora of species all readily willing to take a lure. Some clients say this is the best way to spend a day as you get a really good up close look at the reef and a massive variety of fish species. Although the tackle is down-sized that doesn't mean the fish always are.

Full Day Switch-baiting charter - $1400.00 whole boat booking. Ever hand fed a black marlin before? This about as close as you will get to it. This has to be our favourite method to catch black marlin. We tow baited teasers behind the boat. Once a fish is raised in the spread we draw the fish closer to the boat, by retrieving the teasers and slowing the boat. As the teasers come within pitching distance, approx 10 - 15 ft, we pitch the bait to the marlin; and quickly remove the teasers. Once the marlin eats, we give a 5 second pause; then throw the bail and start to wind up the drag.

Full day Light Tackle Gamefishing - $1400 whole boat booking. For the armchair angler our trolling sessions raise all manner of species from the blistering speed demons…Wahoo to awe-inspiring billfish such as Black Marlin and Sailfish. This can be a more relaxing way to spend your day with us; until the ratchets start screaming and the rods start bending.
